Riley Green Previews The Voice

Season 30 of The Voice begins on Monday.  Riley says most of his work is done: “We’re done with the blind auditions.  We’re about halfway through filming. But we’re filming two seasons simultaneously.  You’re switching gears a lot. It’s been interesting to see how much goes into a show like that. Logistically it’s the toughest thing is working around schedules.”

In one of the previews, Lon saw Riley bring out his duck call: “It comes out only when I need it.  Me & Adam Levine have a lot of what Blake & Afam had, giving each other a hard time. Queen Latifah is a legend.  Adam & Kelly have been on the show before. They’ve got an advantage over me. I’m the new guy, so I have to figure out how to stand out.”

Lon asked about the surprises: “It’s always surprising when you hear someone do one of your own songs.  There’s been moments when somebody has sung something of mine. You’re happy that someone wants to use your song to showcase their skills. It’s also surprised me how attached I’ve become to these contestants.”

Although Riley was there for the show tapings, he hasn’t actually seen the show yet: “I’m as excited as anybody because I haven’t seen it either.  I have no clue what it’s gonna be like.”

So where will Riley be Monday night? Will there be a watch party? “If I’m in town, I think upstairs at the Duck Blind, with that big video wall will be a great spot to watch.  But it’s not gonna trump Monday Night Football.  The TV’s will be on football and maybe that in the middle.”
