Corey Kent Co-Hosts July 18-19

| July 13, 2026

The co-host this wknd is Corey Kent, who is in our Top 10 with Rocky Mountain Low. The song features Koe Wetzel. Corey has four kids under the age of 7. The youngest one was born in November. Corey will have a new album out in September.

Corey & his wife welcomed their 4th child last November: “I don’t feel young anymore, those kids wear me out.  We just had our fourth baby, which is crazy for me to say. Mentally I feel like I’m barely old enough to legally drink. But here I am with four kids.  My life outside of country music is super-chaotic, My table’s full of laughter, and it’s a full life.”

Ther fourth was a daughter they named Ivy Love: “After we had our first baby, after watching that process, I told my wife, ‘However many you want to have, you’re in charge.  You can name them.’  Ivy is a name my wife has loved. We always wait to name our kids.  We never know if it’s a boy or girl, and we want to be sure the name fits, My wife finally got to use the name she loved.”

Why do you wait to find out if it’s a boy or girl? “Family tradition.  There are so few surprises in life, For the guys, this is a guaranteed good surprise. I was a sceptic, but I bought in, all four of them. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences to wait until that due date.”

Corey just played Red Rocks in Colorado, opening for Eric Church: “I’ll never forget getting a call from my manager. He asked ‘What’s your dream show?’  I said playing Red Rocks with Eric Church. He said, ‘That offer just came through.’  I loved that Chief CD.  If you were to tell 16 year old me one of these days, you’ll play Red Rocks with Eric Church. Talk about a dream show. Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses.”

Corey & his band have an unusual pre-show ritual that involves Taser roulette: “We each take a shot, then we do taser roulette.  It’s like spin the bottle. Whoever it lands on, has to take it on the chest. We had six tasers on the bus.  We went through Canada, and they took all our tasers. Apparently they’re illegal there.  We didn’t know that. So we stopped traveling internationally with them. We just got back from England.  Now that we’re back on American soil, tasers will return to our ritual.”

Corey was a contestant on The Voice: “That’s the most fun I never want to have again. It put me around people who were very talented.  Being around Blake was great. Pharrel Williams was a huge proponent of me going into the rock-soul thing, At the time I didn’t think so. But this new record I’m working on is this rock soul country thing has put me in my own lane, and is the right place for me inside country music.”

Speaking of Corey’s new music, he has an album coming out in September: “Our new record Heartland Rock & Roll will be released on September 25th. When I think of Eric Church, I think of Chief.  Every artist wants to have that record.  When people think of Corey Kent, this might be the record they think of. It’s huge anticipation. I’ve never had this feeling before.  I’m ready to bring this into the world, and let the chips fall where they may.”

Corey also has great stories this week about Jordan Davis, Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, Koe Wetzel, and Jason Aldean.
