Bailey Zimmerman Co-Hosts 6/13-14
The co-host this week is Bailey Zimmerman, who’s in the countdown with “Chevy Silverado.” He says it’s his most autobiographical song yet. His previous #1 was a duet with Luke Combs called “Backup Plan.” He talks about his current headline tour, and his plans for the rest of the year.
Bailey has been on the road all year on his headline tour. “It’s insane, crazy! Some people can just stand there and sing. I can’t do that. My thing is jumping around, energy, I like pyro, you’re seeing so much. That was hard to put together. The show I built now is unreal.”
Bailey’s current song was written from personal experience: I started writing that song in 2022. I wanted to write a song about my first truck that I bought when I was 16. It was my grandpa’s before I bought it. I had to borrow money from the bank. It’s the most personal song on the album. The moral of the song is your truck won’t leave you, your girlfriend will. I’m so glad it’s out now and people are enjoying it.”
Chevy Silverado is from Bailey’s latest album, Different Night Same Rodeo. “I was excited to see if I could do it again and create another album. The first album gave me a lot of confidence. I know who I wanna be, what I wanna say. I’m so thankful it’s out now, because I worked so hard on it.”
Bailey’s tour ends soon, and then he’ll do some fairs & festivals. But he has some time off. Lon asked what he’ll be doing during that time: “I’m gonna spend time with my mom. Go home and spend time with my friends. Lot of time with my dogs in the pool. Probably continue to write songs from my next album. But we spent so much time on this last album, that I think I’m gonna take some time and enjoy all the success we’ve had over the last few years.”
Bailey also has great stories this week about Jelly Roll, Tyler Hubbard, Cody Johnson, Kane Brown, and Morgan Wallen.
