Cody Johnson Co-Hosts 5/2-3

| April 27, 2026

The co-host this wknd is Cody Johnson, who is in our Top 5 with “The Fall.” He updates on his 6 month old son Jaycee. He shares details about his new album, “Banks Of The Trinity,” available June 26. He also talks about breaking George Strait’s record at the Houston Livestock Show.

Cody’s baby boy Jaycee is now 6 months old: “He’s doin’ great.  He’s fat & happy.  The biggest difference is that with my girls, they were daddies little girls.  They loved to cuddle and snuggle up.  But anytime Brandi walks in the room, he goes ‘Mamamama.’ So I’m chopped liver around my house.”

Cody says his two girls are helping take care of the baby: “He’s spoiled rotten.  Not only does he have Brandi, but he also has those two little girls. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.  I didn’t picture myself being 38 years old with a 6 month old. It’s one of the best thing that’s ever happened. We could not be more thankful.”

The other bit of news is Cody just received four ACM nominations, including Entertainer Of the Year: “Every year you get nominated for Entertainer of the Year all it does is confirm that the hard work you’re doing is being recognized.  To win it would be awesome, it’s something we’re striving for. If you look at my tour schedule, you know we’re striving.  But even if we don’t, just being in the category says a lot about the last 20 years of hard work.

Cody just announced he will release a new album called “Banks Of The Trinity.” The title song describes the area where he grew up, but he didn’t write it: “When I heard this song, it was like a slide show playing in my mind, taking back to my memories of how I grew up. It took me back home.  I had tears in my eyes, and I was smiling.  I get to tell the world about a side of myself I haven’t shared yet.”

This weekend, Cody will open a show in Clemson SC for one of his heroes: George Strait: “It’s important to note that last month we set the record for most people in Houston’s NRG Stadium.  People were comparing me to George Strait.  But I’m still opening for him. If you don’t believe it, come to Clemson, because I’m the opener.”

Lon then asked about setting the record at NRG Stadium: “I was there when George set the record.  The entire time, I was thinking, I’m gonna set the goal to break that record. I’m a goal setter.  It only took 5 years. But I’m just as excited to open for George Strait.”

Cody also has great stories this week about Bailey Zimmerman, Ella Langley, Jelly Roll, Corey Kent, and Luke Combs.
