Jon Pardi Co-Hosts 4/25-26
The co-host this wknd is Jon Pardi, who introduces his latest song “Boots Off.” This is the tenth anniversary of his breakthrough album California Sunrise, featuring the hit song Dirt on My Boots. Jon also updates us on his two young daughters.
Jon co-hosted the countdown from California at his mom’s house, in a room he built as his west coast studio. “It’s very college here. It’s at my mom’s house. I’m still making music in my mom’s garage. If I bought a place here in California, it would break my mom’s heart. So she had this shop with an unfinished room up top. So we finished it off. We put a little studio here. Fun fact: Tequila Little Time was written here. That was our first Top 5 song outta here. This time, we sang four songs, and we’re getting ready for our next chapter of recorded music.”
For now, there’s Boots Off. The video features his wife Summer: “That was the good part. We could really be romantic on screen. I wrote it about Summer. We wanted to make it about a romantic night in a nice hotel. So we did it at the Grand Hyatt in Nashville.”
Then things get crazy. First as the Tom Cruise character in Risky Business. Then as Elvis: “It was just fun. I always love to add comedy. I called my Elvis jump suit girls. I always wanted a baby blue one. I made an excuse to get another Elvis jump suit. You get super powers in the jump suit. Once I put them on, I become Elvis Pardi. You never know when Elvis Pardi’s gonna come out.”
Jon told Lon he just saw Kane Brown: “We just were at Kane’s house for Easter. It was fun, we brought our girls, Lauren Alaina was there, Rae Lynn was there. They got to see Sienna. His boy Krue is so cute. We had a whole Easter Sunday at Kane’s house.”
Lon asked for an update on his daughters: “Presley just turned 3. Sienna is 18 months. They grow up so quick. We call Presley a three-nager. She’s on her headphones, watching a movie, they’re both fun. Presley is a huge Ella Langley fan. She loves Dandelion and Choosin’ Texas. She’s jammin’ out to that. She doesn’t request my songs. Only Ella Langley.”
Earlier, Jon teased he’s working on new music. Is any of it influenced by his girls? “Absolutely not. Nobody comes to my shows to hear me sing about my kids. I want to be Mr. Saturday Night. The family songs are great, but they’re listening things. We do fun songs. We’re still partying in the live show. We’re just starting to make new music. I have no clue where it’s going, but I know it’s gonna be good.”
Jon also has great stories this week about Riley Green, Zach Top, LoCash, Cody Johnson, and Alan Jackson.
NEXT WEEK: Cody Johnson
