Russell Dickerson Co-Hosts 3/7-8
The co-host this wknd is Russell Dickerson, who releases a spring break EP on March 6th called “Worth Your Wild.” Russell had a 2-week #1 last year called Happen To Me. He’s currently on the road with his Russellmania Tour.
Russell co-hosted the countdown from his man-cave. Lon noticed a few items in the background, and asked him about a flag that appeared to be from The Masters: “Yes, that’s Augusta National. There’s a scorecard too, crazy experience, the greatest golf course on earth. There’s a picture of me and Kailey at Amen Corner. They asked me to play their New Year’s Eve party. We played New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. It was a spectacular evening.”
Lon asked Russell about releasing a new EP in time for spring break: “I feel that is the signal that seasonal depression is over. We’re back. Time to go to the beach. It’s so fun to make, it’s fun, it’s beachy, it’s fun to go back into the memory of all the spring break & summer songs,”
Russell is good friends with Thomas Rhett. Lon asked if he’s spoken with Thomas since his baby boy was born on Friday: “Oh yeah. I texted him the night before, because we knew they were going into the hospital. I told him we’re praying for a healthy baby boy. They didn’t know going in what gender it was gonna be. The next day I texted him congrats. He said, ‘I can’t believe it. Finally got a boy.'”
Russell is about to do a tour of the UK with Keith Urban: “Absolute bucket list. To do a mini tour with Keith is such a bucket list. His music has such an influence on mine. Him & Garth Brooks are my heroes. I don’t know how much of a fangirl he knows I am of him. But by the end of these three shows, he will know how big of a fan I am.”
Russell had this story about Jason Aldean: “The last time I saw him was at Lauren Alaina’s wedding. We got there late. I was sitting in the lobby, we watched the whole wedding through the glass, because they closed the doors. Me & Shay Mooney. We were both stuck looking through the glass. But that reception was a blast. Jason was there, and he looked at me and said, ‘You wanna shot?’ I’m not much of a drinker, but I was like, when Aldean asks you to take a shot, you take a shot!”
Russell also has great stories this week about Scotty McCreery, Miranda Lambert, George Birge, Bailey Zimmerman, and the Jonas Brothers.
