Shaboozey & Jelly Roll Co-Host 3/14-15

| March 9, 2026

The co-hosts this weekend will be a couple of Grammy winners: Shaboozey & Jelly Roll. The two are in our Top 5 with “Amen.” They have stories about their Grammy experience, as well as their Australian tour together last fall. Plus Jelly talks about being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

Lon began the show asking about winning the Grammy: “We will celebrate for the rest of our lives.  Every time they go ‘Grammy-award winning artist,’ we will think of each other in some capacity.”  How did you celebrate? “We went out, we shut it down.  I won’t say much more than that. We had a lotta fun.”

What were your highlights? Jelly said, “You know what I haven’t found is this picture, I know it exists, all of the country music folks banded together for one picture.  All of us. It was me, Shaboozey, Reba, Zach Top, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey, all of us. That’s what we took pride in, just how many of us were there.”

Who did you meet that you hadn’t met before? Jelly replied: “Miley Cyrus came over to say hi to me. I had yet to meet her.  I told her, I’m a Tennessee kid, she’s our GOAT. Vocal wise, song wise, talent wise, she’s Top 5. But the way she’s handled her career and fame, I’m a big fan of Miley, so it was cool to meet her.”

Shaboozey wanted to talk about Zach Top: “Me & Zach did a lot of post-Grammy press stuff together.  I met him 3 years ago at CMA Fest.  He’s cool as hell. At that time, me & Jelly had the most interesting names in country music. I was like, Zach Top, that’s a crazy name too. Now he’s one of the biggest names in country music.

They both talked a lot about their duet Amen: Jelly said, “The song is the fruit of the tree that’s our relationship. That relationship has been rooted in inspiring each other, both of us having a similar explosion.  The Jelly Roll & Shaboozey relationship deserves it’s own comic book.”   Shaboozey added: “Every time I sing it, it hits me, it’s real. ‘On a lost & lonely highway, paying for my sins.’ I remember when Jelly heard it, he texted me and said, ‘This is a big ole hit!'”

Jelly Roll was just inducted as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.  Jelly was visited before the show by John Carter Cash: “When he broke out that necklace, it was such a Johnny Cash necklace, but also a Jelly Roll necklace.  Diamonds, emeralds, a big nice cross.  For John Carter Cash to bring that to me, if there was one guy I wanted to be like was Johnny Cash.”

The guys also spoke about this week’s Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.  Jelly said he’s been coming since 2022.  Shaboozey talked about wanting to thank country radio for playing A Bar Song (Tipsy).  They’ll both be at this year’s CRS and you may see them together at some point!

Shaboozey & Jelly Roll also have great stories this week about Russell Dickerson, Hardy, Megan Moroney, Cody Johnson, and Morgan Wallen.

NEXT WEEK: Shaboozey & Jelly Roll Part 2.
