Blake Shelton Returns 1/17-18
This weekend, Blake Shelton returns for a second week as Lon’s co-host. He’s in our Top 5 with Stay Country or Die Tryin.’ Blake begins a 3 week residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. He talks about his latest TV talent contest The Road, and it’s headliner Keith Urban.
Blake just began a 3-week residency in Las Vegas. He told Lon, “This is the greatest, I can say I’m gonna be in one place, The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace through the end of the month. I hope you can come too, Lon. It’s fun, I actually have my own green room. We’ll go back there and have a drink. I call it my office. There’s a desk, there’s a phone that’s not plugged in. I feel like Elvis when I’m there.”
Lon asked if he ever makes it to the casino: “No, especially now with the Ole Red location in Vegas. If I have some free time, I better poke my head in over there and hop on stage. We’ve done some of that.”
Lon asked Blake where he & Gwen spent Christmas: “We spent 80% of the time at the ranch in Oklahoma. But we spent Christmas Eve & day in California with Gwen’s family. Her family has a lot of traditions. We do that tympano-pasta dome thing. We make that every year. It’s always about food with us.”
One of the episodes of Blake’s TV show visited St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis: “We kick around ideas about what else we can do in these cities. But I know country radio has a relationship with St. Jude, and that was a no-brainer. It’s no wonder the connection country radio has with St, Jude. There’s nothing like it.
Lon also asked about his plane for new music: “When I made this album, I made way more music than I needed. I held on to some of it, I’m thinking one day you & I will be sitting here again like we are today. If they tell me they’re gonna do a deluxe version, I have just what they need right here.”
Blake also has great stories this week about Jordan Davis, Jackson Dean, Justin Moore, Dan & Shay, and Post Malone.
