Jordan Davis Co-Hosts 10/4-5
The co-host this wknd is Jordan Davis, who’s in our Top 5 with Bar None. He & his wife welcomed their fourth child, a daughter named Sadie, in July. He just released a new album, “Learn The Hard Way.”
Jordan is on the road now with Mitchell Tenpenny: “This is our second year in a row together. Being on the road with him is awesome. Such a great live show. I love him and his lovely wife Meghan Patrick. I just love Mitchell to death.”
Speaking of Mitchell’s wife Meghan Patrick, she has her first Top 30: “There’s nobody more proud than Mitchell. She’s such a hard worker. They’re on opposite ends of the country most of the time, They’ve been able to handle it so gracefully. It’s a cool thing to watch.”
Thomas Rhett’s new single features Jordan. “The thing with that song, I’d wanted to do a song with Thomas for a long time. He’s one of my best friends. When he sent that over, it struck me that it’s who he is, and who I am. That one spoke to me, and I’m excited about this tune.”
Jordan and Thomas each have four kids, but that’s about to change for Thomas: “They’re about to jump right back into it. But my baby Sadie is 3 months old. She’s sleeping most of the time. I can take her to lunch, I can take her anywhere, and she just sleeps. There’s this new phase when it gets easier.”
Speaking of Jordan’s kids: “My oldest Eloise is about to turn 6 and she’s almost perfect. The next one is a 4 year old boy named Locklin. He’s the complete opposite. He’s all boy, stubborn, and we bash heads. My younger boy Eli just turned 2, and he follows his big brother. Then comes baby Sadie, who’s more like her sister. She’s a great baby, sleeping great, so I’m very blessed.”
When we arrived at our studio, we heard that Jim Nantz of CBS Sports was in the building recording some commercials. He heard Jordan was doing the Countdown, and wanted to say “hi.” So about halfway through the session, he walked in the studio. He told Jordan, “I loved being part of that video with you.” Jordan replied, “You crushed it. The best question I get asked is ‘How awesome is it that Jim Nantz bashed your golf game.’ I reply that it was the coolest moment in my life.”
The video Nantz referred to was Jordan’s tour launch video that also starred Peyton Manning. Jordan told Lon, “There’s not a lot of people who can top Peyton Manning, but Jim Nantz is the one. He’s a legend. So I’m very fortunate to potentially play golf with him at some point.”
Jordan also has great stories this week about Luke Combs, Jackson Dean, Cole Swindell, Cory Kent, and Tucker Wetmore.
NEXT WEEK: Chris Young
