Bailey Zimmerman Co-Hosts 8/23-24
The co-host this wknd is Bailey Zimmerman, who joins Katie Neal while Lon is away. Bailey & Luke Combs are in our Top 5 with “Backup Plan.” Bailey explains why he chose Luke for this song, and how they shot the video at this year’s Stagecoach.
Bailey debuted “Backup Plan” last spring during Luke Combs’ Stagecoach show: “Him asking me to shoot the video during his performance was like a dream. There were 60,000 people, the pressure was there. We had never sang it together before right then. I think that was where the magic came from.”
In October, Bailey will appear at Eric Church’s Field & Stream Festival in South Carolina: “I have never met Eric. He’s so quiet, and I’m so loud. I’m nervous about it. Should I be chill like he is, or go, ‘Eric, you’re so lit, I’m such a fan!’ I’ve been thinking about it. His songs are insane. Very excited to meet him. Hopefully he invites me to sing a song with him. That’d be cool. I’m looking forward to that one.”
Bailey had an exciting experience recently at a festival in Canada: “I played Country Thunder in Saskatchewan with Tyler Hubbard. I was nervous because he was opening for me, which was super weird. I grew up on his music. I went over to him, and he was the nicest guy. I told him it was weird for him to open for me. He said ‘I’m honored to be here with you.’ Then he invited me up to sing Cruise. 12 year old me was freaking out. It was the craziest moment in my life.”
Katie asked Bailey if he’s added any cars to his collection. He told her, “Me & Lon, every time we get together, we talk about our Corvettes. I was going to talk to him about that today. I’ve got a twin-turbo Corvette. But my latest car was a 2022 Z-01 Camaro. I also got an Escalade V, inspired by Kane Brown. I called him, and he was like, ‘Bro, you’ll never go back. It’ll be the favorite car you own.’ He would be proud of that one.”
Bailey appeared at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa festival in January, Bailey told Katie the experience changed his life: “We had a bit of a mishap at Crash My Playa. I had been drinking to much that day. I thought Luke was mad at me. But he called me to the main stage, and he told me, ‘Drink after the show. You’re young. You’ll learn.’ It was a big turning point for me. Thank you Luke Bryan for the advice, I’m gonna take it, and since then, I have.”
Bailey also has great stories this week about Morgan Wallen, Hardy, Nate Smith, Dylan Marlowe, Josh Ross, and Drew Baldridge.
