Shaboozey Co-Hosts 8/30-31

| August 25, 2025

The co-host this wknd is Shaboozey, who makes his first appearance as Lon’s co-host.  His current Top 5 is “Good News.”  He also had a huge hit in 2024: “A Bar Song (Tipsy.)”

Lon began by asking him what the year’s been like: “It’s been a dream come true. It feels a little like destiny.  I’ve been doing this a long time. People told me I was meant to be doing this.  So to now have people say ‘I knew that guy was going to do something,’ is the most exciting part.  To find my purpose and live out that story.”

One of the first artists Shaboozey met was Post Malone: “I’ve known Post since 2016.  He believed in me pretty early. We reconnected last year at the back of Roberts in Nashville.  I was filming a video for Bar Song at Roberts. Somebody told me Post was there too.  I gave him a big hug, and who would know that we’d both be going back & forth on the chart.”

Early last year, Shaboozey opened some shows for Russell Dickerson: “That was so early, my producers were my band.  My guitar player went into Russell’s green room.  We walked in there too.  Russell told me, ‘Two huge things are gonna happen in your life.’  Since then, a lotta good things have happened in my life.  I wish we had it on video.”

Lon asked about the reason they chose Good News as the next single after Bar Song: “It was an interesting way to go. I felt it was the song the world needed to hear. The whole world is looking at you, and you follow with something like that. To see it doing well, finding it’s home, it’s amazing.”

Sheboozey begins his headline tour next month.  One of the places he’ll appear is Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth: “I’m excited about that. Jelly Roll brought me there one time.  It was pretty wild.  I rode the iconic bull, or I took a picture on the bull. It was awesome.  It was a fun time.  So I can’t wait.”

Shaboozey spoke to Lon from his LA home. But he told Lon he recently bought a house near Nashville: “LA’s awesome.  But Nashville is awesome too.  It’s close to where I’m from in Virginia.  So I bought a house. It’s beautiful, The good news is I found a place a little outside of the city. When I got there I said this is what moving to Nashville is supposed to be about.  I feel I found my little piece of paradise. Hopefully a lot of memories will be made there.”

Shaboozey also has great stories this week about Nate Smith, Jelly Roll, Jason Aldean, Drew Baldridge, and Johnny Cash.

NEXT WEEK: Keith Urban in Australia
