Dierks Bentley Co-Hosts 7/12-13

| July 7, 2025

The co-host this wknd is Dierks Bentley, who’s in our Top 30 with “She Hates Me.” He’s currently on the road with his Broken Branches tour, and just headlined the Nashville 4th of July celebration. His latest album, Broken Branches, was released a few weeks ago.

Dierks took a rare day off from his summer tour:  “I’m on the road touring all summer, and when I get time off, I usually spend it in Colorado. That’s my spot, and has been for a while. I came back we’re doing a show in Nashville, so I came by to say hi to you.”

The show he’s talking about was the annual Nashville 4th of July celebration, where Dierks played for an estimated 365,000 people: “I haven’t played a 4th of July show in a long time. I usually take that day off for my kids.  But one’s at a hockey camp, one’s at a theater camp, and the other is at a regular camp.   So I thought I’d play a show.”

Joining Dierks on the road this year is Zach Top.  He’s also part of Dierks’ 90s cover band Hot Country Knights: “His name in the band is Billy Bottoms Jr.  Doug says he met Billy’s mom 27 years ago.  Hasn’t seem her since.  Found out he’s got a son: Billy Bottoms Jr.  The guy was born to be a Knight. I’ve never seen someone sing an entire song with a cigarette hanging from his mouth.”

That’s not all.  Dierks says Zach is busy before the show: “We play a lot of pickleball during the day. I just got him to do a cold plunge.  I haven’t posted that video yet.  But he did our ice bath.  He did good. Also with a cigarette and a beer.  I think he had a White Claw in there.  But this is probably the last tour he’ll open.  He’s going to be a huge star.”

Dierks has several guests on his new album, including Riley Green: “It was fun to have him on the album and video shoot.  I was appreciative of that. I toured with him before. Would love to do it again. This time I’d be opening for him. He has great songs, and has a hell of a mustache. Although in my video, he had no stache. When you shave your stache, you lose respect. But he’s another reason why I feel the future of country music is in great hands.”

Later this year, Dierks & his wife will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary: “Trying to figure out what to do. We’re do for something big.  We thought about hiking Kilimanjaro. Whether it’ll happen, I don’t know.  When we got married, we just eloped to Mexico. But the older I get, the more you got to celebrate the wins.”

Dierks also has great stories this week about Jordan Davis, Tyler Hubbard, Ella Langley, Miranda Lambert, and Ringo Starr.
