Shaboozey & Jelly Roll Return 3/21-22

| March 16, 2026

This week Shaboozey & Jelly Roll return for more stories about their current Top 5 Amen. They also talk about how they first met, and how Amen became a duet. Jelly Roll has more about his induction at the Grand Ole Opry. Plus Shaboozey talks about his new Nashville home.

Jelly Roll told this story about Zach Top: “He can play basketball too. He’s a hoopster.  I want that as the headline that comes out of this interview. Zach Top is a hoopster.  I wish we had a Nashville basketball league, and a country music classic, I’d love to put one together.  We should do that, Shaboozey. A charity basketball game. Zach Top is first round draft pick.  He has real skills.  He played in high school, and was apparently pretty good.”

Shaboozey has this story about A Bar Song: “I want to talk about the power of producers and writers saying yes to ideas. A Bar Song was that way.  At the end, we were past deadline, and I came in with this idea for Bar Song. And they wanted to hear it. That became Bar Song.  By saying yes, it changed all of our lives. That was a dream come true.”

Lon asked Jelly Roll how “Amen” came to him: “They sent the record over to me. I was in the shower, and I kept hearing the line about the pills ran out and I still can’t sleep. I was like, that is the vulnerability that the world needs.  I felt that there was something honest about it.  I was like I want to sing on that record.”

Shaboozey told Lon & Jelly this story about his father:: “We were looking to buy a house in Nashville, and I brought my dad with me. I brought him to this place, 27 acres, and I saw him sit on the porch. He was just sitting there quiet. He’s usually a restless guy, he always wants to be in charge.  He’s peacefully looking at the land, it’s right on the Cumberland River. I could see my dad watching his grandchildren play.  And I said, ‘This is the house we’re buying.'”  Jelly responded: “Oh man, that makes me wanna cry.  That deserves an Amen.”

Shaboozey & Jelly Roll also have great stories this week about Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman, Lainey Wilson, and Post Malone.

NEXT WEEK: Justin Moore
