Stella Lefty Reacts To Her 1st #1

This weekend, Stella Lefty did something few women have done, and that is go to #1 with their debut single. Lon and his co-host John Morgan reached out to Stella for her immediate reaction.

“I’m absolutely amazed by everything that’s happened with Boston. I was at the airport when I found out. I got a text. I was freaking out in the airport. It’s so crazy because I’ve been listening to country radio my whole life. I could never imagine it happening. 

Did the rise on country radio chart surprise you? “It was so shocking, and it was crazy to see it in real time. I was on the road as the song went up the chart.  As it climbed into the Top 10, I felt like more people knew it, and people were singing it back to me. So I definitely got to see that.

Lon informed her that as a woman on her first single, she went to #1 the fastest in 20 years. Before that it was Carrie Underwood with Jesus Take The Wheel: “It’s impossible for me to process that, because I grew up with Carrie Underwood.  So to be in the conversation with her is a dream come true.”

Lon asked Stella how she celebrated her first #1: “I was in Canada with my boyfriend Vincent. We definitely took a shot on behalf of Boston’s success. That was our celebration. But I hope to continue celebrating it because this is obviously a huge milestone in my life and career. So there will be more celebration to come.”
