Chris Young Co-Hosts 7/4-5

The co-host for 4th of July weekend is Chris Young, who just released a deluxe version of his album I Didn’t Come Here To Leave. Chris just opened his Famous Friends Bar in Nashville. He will play a show at an Army base in Hawaii on the 4th of July.

Chris will be performing a show at an Army base on the 4th of July., It’s at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, and it’s the base where George Strait was stationed in the 70s. “I actually didn’t know that!  This is gonna be so different from any 4th of July show I’ve played.  Being able to do something for the military on THIS 4th of July will be very special.”

Chris does a lot for the military.  He did a show last week at Fort Bliss in El Paso: “I feel like the Hawaii show will be different because it’s actually on the day.  Military crowds are awesome. I’m trying to thank them, and they’re trying to thank me.  They do things that allow me to have the job I have.”

Chris opened his Famous Friends Bar in Nashville last week. “It’s next to the Tin Roof, but it’s very different.  There wasn’t a dedicated sports bar in the area. So just combining my love for sports and love for music. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Really happy that it’s there and it’s something different for folks to hang with their friends.”

Let’s talk about the menu: “It’s upscale bar food. I love everything on the menu. Some things people won’t expect. There’s deep fried olives.  We did a hot dog with Philly cheese steak toppings on it.  I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan, and wasn’t sure I wanted anything called the Philly Dog on the menu. But I tried it, and I was like, ‘never mind. It can stay.’  It’s very good.”

Most sports bars don’t have dessert, but Famous Friends does: “My chef said to me, ‘I do a really good cobbler.’ She explained it to me this way: ‘Once a month, a woman’s gonna need something sweet.’ So it’s Bar’s Music City Peach Cobbler.  That’s what the chef wanted, that’s what she gets.”

There was a grand opening last week: “I had a bunch of friends show up. It’s not a huge place. It only holds 90 people.  Mitchell Tenpenny and his beautiful wife Meaghan Patrick were there. They’re about to have a baby.  I know he is over the moon about being a dad. I know she’s happy too. They’re just awesome, they’re gonna be the best parents.  I’m so happy for both of them.”
