Dylan Scott Co-Hosts 4/11-12
The co-host this wknd is Dylan Scott, who is in our Top 10 with “What He’ll Never Have.” Dylan wrote the song with his brother Logan. Dylan co-hosted from his cabin outside of Nashville. “I bought a little dirt a couple years ago. It’s a nice creative space. We’ve been writing a lot out here.”
Dylan is in fact one of the writers of his current hit, “What He’ll Never Have.” Joining him as a co-writer is his brother Logan: “This is a special one to me. To be where we’re at right now with this song and to share it wil him is special to me.”
Has your brother had a hit single before? “No, this is his first single. He’s watching the charts, telling me what it’s doing. I don’t watch it anymore. It’s a wild ride, so I listen to him. He goes, ‘It’s Top 10, we’re Top 5.’ Now he’s going, ‘You think it’s going #1?’ I told him to just sit back & relax, we’ll see what happens.”
Dylan & his wife have 3 children: “My oldest is Becket, who’s 8 years old, but acts like he’s 16. He’s too cool for school. My little girl is 6, she’s into baseball, and just lost her two front teeth. Then the baby is 2-1/2, and he just got potty trained, so that’s a big win in our house.”
One thing Dylan is looking forward to is the summer, when he brings his family on the road: “The kids will be on the road with me. My oldest Becket said he wanted to come on stage with me. He came out a few times last summer, and enjoyed it. He was pretty good. His song of choice was Boys Back Home. He’d do Marlowe’s part. He gets the music stuff.”
It’s only been about a year since Dylan’s last album. He told Lon he’s got something new coming soon: “I want my next thing I release that’s a song with meaning. I found a song I wrote after my mom passed away. She’d tell me my whole life to slow down. When she died, I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote this song. We’re releasing it next, I can’t believe it’s taken this long, but I’m excited.”
