Jason Aldean Co-Hosts 2/7-8

| February 2, 2026

The co-host this wknd is Jason Aldean, who is in our Top 5 with “How Far Does A Goodbye Go.” He began the year headlining Nashville’s Big Bash on New Year’s Eve. He previews his new album, “Songs About Us,” available April 24th. He’s already on the road, and will head to Australia later this month.

Lon spoke with Jason a couple days after a major snow & ice storm shut down Nashville.  Our music row studio had no power, and Jason was stuck at his house.  So they did the show by Zoom. Lon asked Jason why he wasn’t in Florida: “We started touring early this year, or I would have been there after Christmas. This is why I go there.”

Is that unusual? “Yeah it’s a little out of the ordinary. We usually do Christmas and go to Florida for a couple months.  But we decided to do a tour of Australia & New Zealand. I haven’t been to Australia in ten years, and never been to New Zealand.  Not looking forward to the 22 hour flight.  After that, I’m looking forward to everything.”

Jason began 2026 headlining Nashville’s outdoor New Year’s Eve show: “It was freezing, and I said to one of my band members, ‘I don’t know why I agreed to do this.’  But it was fun. Obviously the crowd was putting up with the weather.  We had an amazing time, it was fun to do New Years, because we hadn’t done one in 15 years.”

The video for Jason’s Top 5 How Far Does a Goodbye Go evokes a 70s vibe: “I feel like I ended up looking like Burt Reynolds.  The original inspiration for the video was a picture of Richard Petty.  At one point, the video director asked me, ‘Would you ever wear a wig in a video?’  I went, ‘Don’t get too crazy.’  We all went in, threw it back to the 70s.  We were laughing at each other because we weren’t used to seeing each other in wigs and all the 70s garb.”

Lon asked Jason for his Super Bowl pick: “I’m going with the Seahawks.  I think they’re legit. They got a great defense, best receiver in the league. I feel like it’s their year. No offense to the Patriots, I love Drake Maye, I love what he’s doing over there. But I think the Seahawks defense is the game changer. So I’m going with the Seahawks.”

Jason also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Chase Matthew, Lainey Wilson, and Corey Kent.
