Dan + Shay Co-Host 12/13-14
The co-hosts this wknd are Dan + Shay, who co-host themselves while Lon is away. The guys just released a new holiday song “Long Live Christmas.” Last year, they released “It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album.” Lots of holiday music along with the week’s Top 30.
Family update: Shay: “We have four kids, Asher, Ames, Abram and Aubrey. All “a’s” makes it difficult. I’ve definitely called the wrong names every single day.” Dan: “We have four dogs, Hey we’re keeping up. Our dog Mac likes to lay under the Christmas tree. He’s the best present ever. We’ve been home all year, and spend time with our families. It’s been awesome.
The guys just released a new holiday song: Long Live Christmas: “The video takes place in a small town, they were trying to figure out who could save Christmas, and Dan & Shay came to the rescue. We were working at a pub, maybe a pub that we own. I thought it would be sick to own a pub. Maybe that’s in our future. It was one of our most fun videos ever.”
As they went through the chart, they saw a familiar song: “I Dare You” by Rascal Flatts. Shay was one of the writers: “This was such a blast to write with Nick Jonas. We grew up as fans of Rascal Flatts. Also the Jonas Brothers, when I was in high school, I used to do an impression to impress girls. It didn’t work very well. But it’s cool to have them enter the country space with this song.”
In addition to the new Christmas song, the guys just released a cover of the Taylor Swift song Back To December: “We were in Boston playing a show, and Dan sat down and played this song on piano. It was the quickest turnaround in our career. We did a cover, it got posted on social media, and our fans asked us to record it. So we jumped in the studio, recorded it, and the song came out a few days later.”
During the show, the guys talked about some new music: “We were off the road this year, so we spent our time off working on new music. We forgot to post on social media, so people wondered where we were. We miss our fans, and we’re gonna be back pretty soon with new tunes. We can’t say much, but it’s quintessentially Dan + Shay.”
