Tucker Wetmore Co-Hosts 11/29-30
The co-host this wknd is Tucker Wetmore, who’s in our Top 10 with “3, 2, 1.” It’s his first time as Lon’s co-host, so they have a lot to talk about. They also speak with the artist who has this week’s #1 song.
Tucker is from the state of Washington. So is Zach Top. Lon asked if they know each other: “Every time we see each other, we go ‘What’s up, cuz?’ There’s been speculation that we’re related. In a way we are. My dad was married to someone else, and they had two girls. One of them is sisters with his mom. It’s not really related, but we joke about it.”
Before he had a record deal, Tucker was at a party hosted by Dylan Scott: “One of the first people I met in Nashville is his content guy. He’d bring me around, and I got to meet a lot of artists, including Dylan Scott., One day we were at a bonfire at his farm, and he asked me to sing a song. He sat me down and offered me help and advice.”
Tucker also sold merch one weekend for Parmalee: “That was my first time on a tour bus. I had so much fun, but I’m pretty sure they owe me $100, because I didn’t get paid. Dylan Scott’s content guy once again was doing content for Parmalee. They needed help, and I sucked at it. Probably why they didn’t pay me. I didn’t get asked back. But I learned a lot that weekend.”
Tucker has become good friends with Dustin Lynch: “We spent some time on the water together this summer. We had our boats out, tied our boats up, and ended up listening to new songs, some songs we’re thinking about recording. It was fun. Those are fun memories.”
Tucker will be headlining his own tour next year. One of the artists joining him is Dasha. “She was just at my Halloween party. She had a bald cap on. I think she was dressed like Pitbull. She walks up, and I thought it was a guy. She said, ‘What’s up?’ I recognized her voice. It was hilarious.”
SPOILER ALERT: This week’s #1 song is by Chase Matthew. Lon called him to congratulate him: “It’s been a long journey, but we made it happen. All I’ve ever wanted is see my name at the top of that chart. It’s pretty cool to see it up there. So grateful to country radio. When we found out, I was just so relieved that we did it.”
Tucker also has great stories this week about Thomas Rhett, Jelly Roll, Hardy, Jordan Davis, and Luke Bryan.
