Dustin Lynch Co-Hosts 10/18-19
The co-host this wknd is Dustin Lynch, who updates us on his musical adventures. He’s working on some unique new music. He’s part of Blake Shelton’s new TV talent contest “The Road.” He will also return to Luke Bryan’s annual Crash My Playa in Mexico.
Dustin co-hosted the show from a songwriting camp outside Nashville. “We’re writing some new songs for a dance project. I’m diving into a new world that’s brand new for me. Wasn’t something I was trying to do. I got asked to play an afterparty in Vegas at a dance club. It went great, and found out there was interest in doing dance music. So we’re writing some songs that fit that setting.”
Dustin has already created dance remixes of his hits, and they’re available now: ” ‘Small Town Boy’ is the one that’s taken off for us the most. It’s cool to see what’s happened. It’s a different kind of show from the country show, and it’s kept me fresh for the country shows. We have a new song called ‘Home To You’ that incorporates some of that dance feel.”
There’s a new TV talent contest that begins this weekend called “The Road.” It’s produced by Blake Shelton and features Keith Urban. Dustin appears in one of the episodes: “I’m a guest mentor. I provide commentary while the contestants perform. Keith & I are observing, discussing the performance. The crowd in the room can’t hear us, but the TV audience can. Then afterwards, we meet with the contestants.”
Dustin performed at Luke Bryan’s 10th anniversary Crash My Playa in January: “This past year was yacht rock. We’ve already started planning the theme for this year. We’ve made it a thing where there’s a parade that weaves through crowd. It’s like Mardi Gras. It’s a whole thing, not just a performance.”
Dustin is about to begin a co-headline tour with Scotty McCreery: “I think we’re bringing a lot of value to the fans. They buy one ticket and get all of our hits. We’re gonna get to collaborate. We’ll do a bunch of covers together. We’re gonna turn it into a honky tonk. 12 shows in November & December. So it’ll be fun.”
What’s the timetable for your next album: “We’ve been working all year. I’m not in a rush. I think we’ll have an album out in 2026. We have a new song called ‘Easy To Love’ that’s kind of autobiographical. I don’t know if it’s the change of seasons, but I’ve been telling my friends ‘I wanna dog, I wanna settle down with a girl. So we’ll see what happens. I’m not gonna force it, but I’ve got my eyes open.”
The #1 song is by Dustin’s duet partner Jelly Roll: “I love it. Jelly & I work with the same team. I’ve been aware of this song for a long time. I was in the room when they were choosing this single. It was between this song and another one. It was cool, it’s a conversation I never hear. So to now see it at the top of the charts is awesome.”
Dustin also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Russell Dickerson, Corey Kent, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, and Luke Bryan.
