Blake Shelton Co-Hosts 10/25-26

| October 20, 2025

The co-host this wknd is Blake Shelton, who’s in our Top 20 with “Stay Country or Die Trying.” He also has a new TV talent contest called “The Road.” The show stars Keith Urban as the headliner, and 12 contestants who are trying to win a record contract.

Blake & Post Malone are nominated for CMA Musical Event, and Post is nominated for Album of the Year.  “We see artists from other genres make country records.  But it’s no wonder to me that Post has been embraced by the community.  He came in first and embraced the community. He poured the love on Nashville before he made a country album, and that’s key to his acceptance.”

Lon asked Blake how he got Keith Urban involved in The Road: “I got Keith on the phone, and told him our idea, and we came up the same way.  That’s how this show was developed.  Once he heard the idea, he was in.  It’s a fun way to do a show.”

Lon asked if they think they found a star: “I think we found stars. Because they will perform an original song. Some of those original songs will take off and go viral.  Whether they win or not.  Their music will be available when the show airs, so they won’t have to wait for the end of the show to buy their music.”

Does it bum you out that The Voice never produced a star? “It bothered me more than it bothered the TV people.  It’s easy to see why.  By the time the artist wins the show, they’ve already moved on to the next season.  But also, that show was more about the coaches, and that’s why it was so popular, and not as much focus on the artists.”

You’re working with Taylor Sheridan on this show.  How did you meet him? “I met him through a mutual friend. He’s an amazing guy to work with.  He’s a creative genius. He can have a huge impact on the way a show looks.  He has done a lot with music on Yellowstone, and he really wanted to be part of a music competition show.”

Blake’s current hit is “Stay Country or Die Trying,” and Blake told Lon why he loves the song: “This is one of my favorite songs. I love songs that are filled with attitude.  That’s what God’s Country had too. You’re so proud of who you are that you’re mad about it.  It’s just the lifestyle I live when I can turn off the singer and become the fake rancher I am.  I become that guy when I sing this song.”

Blake also has great stories this week about Gwen Stefani, Dan & Shay, Post Malone, Keith Urban, and Lainey Wilson.
