Luke Bryan Co-Hosts 8/9-10

| August 4, 2025

The co-host this wknd is Luke Bryan, who is in our Top 10 with “Country Song Came On.” He’s currently on the road all summer. He says he’s ready with new music that’ll be released later this year. He has great stories about the artists who took part in this year’s Crash My Playa festival in Mexico.

Luke had to cancel a few shows in June, so Lon asked him how he’s feeling: “I’m 100%. I got knocked back pretty good in mid-June and early July. I think fans were concerned about me. I was doing everything I could. You can only take so much medication.  But all well. Feeling good.”

Luke began the year at his annual Crash My Playa festival in Mexico.  Lon asked if he paused to celebrate the 10th anniversary: “I’m not good at anniversaries.  Things in my career will be dictated if I’m still having fun, and if people want to keep coming. Everything has a shelf life.  I’ve yet to meet a country artist who does a good job at staying retired. I don’t imagine I’ll be a good retired country singer.”

One artist who had a rough time at Luke’s festival was Bailey Zimmerman.  Luke said the two had a chat: “When I was his age, people didn’t shoot video of everything.  I told him, ‘Learn, be better, and you’re human.’ Then we did a song together, He said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it!’ He’s being Bailey.  When he walked out, the fans lost it.  We got him in, and we got him outta there.”

He also gave some advice to Ella Langley: “It so exciting to be on the cusp of your dreams coming true. She’s becoming a celebrity.  It’s really fun. She has the right tools. I introduced her to the music of KT Oslin. I told her, ‘You need to listen to KT Oslin.’  It’s so great, with her & Lainey, we’ve got girls now with country accents.”

Speaking of Lainey, Luke has become friends with both her and her fiancé: “Duck was the youth world champion duck caller. That’s how he got his nickname. When you’re not a good duck hunter, it’s good to have someone like Duck around to help. I’ll call Lainey & Duck all the time.  During duck season, me & Duck like to check in and see how the season’s going.”

Luke’s boys Bo & Tate are now 17 and 14 years old.  They’re both into sports: “Bo is playing high school football. I try to take every Friday off so I can see him play.  Tate is playing golf too.  Bo has been driving, so we don’t see him as much any more.  I don’t know what we’re going to do when he goes off to college.”

Throughout the show, Luke was teasing that new music is coming: “It’s nice to kind of depart from what they expect and give them something new.  Now they’ll be wanting, hopefully, the next chapter of my singles, and keeping them guessing, and me trying to stay on top of my game.”

Luke also has great stories this week about Eric Church, Tucker Wetmore, Zach Top, Jon Pardi, and Cole Swindell.
