Chris Young Co-Hosts 7/22-23
This week’s co-host is Chris Young, who is in the Top 15 with “Looking For You.” He told Lon, “It’s a love song. That’s my bread & butter. It’s also a different way to say ‘I love you.’ That’s what makes it special.”
It’s the first single from a new album, and Chris says it’s finished: “I’ve got my record pretty much done. I can drop a record tomorrow. If I need to put out multiple videos, I’ve already filmed videos for several songs. All that stuff is done, and I’m so proud of this record.”
Chris had a #1 last year with “At The End of a Bar.” He told Lon, “It was so awesome to celebrate a #1 with this song. It’s my 13th #1, it’s Mitchell’s 2nd #1, and I’m just so proud of this song. Just seeing the reaction live has been absolutely incredible.”
Earlier this year, Chris released another new song called “All Dogs Go To Heaven.” He told Lon, “I think ‘All Dogs Go To Heaven’ is an important song, it’s special to me. It’s one of my favorites because it’s different. Regardless of if you have a dog or not, you can probably get the point of the song. They’re probably not gonna outlive us, and they’ll be waitin’ on you when you get up there.”
Could we hear more new music before the album comes out? “Yes. These days, you can put out a single, but I might also drop other stuff elsewhere and let people hear stuff before it comes out.” Lon asked, do you like that? “I do, especially for me with this record. The album’s done, and I know how happy I am with it, so for others to hear it is fun.” Lon asked: When are we gonna hear the album? “Soon.”
Chris also has great stories this week about Tim McGraw, Mitchell Tenpenny, Parker McCollum, Old Dominion, Brett Young, and Kane Brown.
NEXT WEEK: Justin Moore
