Jimmie Allen Co-Hosts 12/10-11
This week, Lon’s co-host is Jimmie Allen, who was with family in Philadelphia. He had just performed at the annual tree lighting at Rockefeller Center in NYC.
Jimmie just wrapped the fall leg of the Denim & Rhinestones tour with Carrie Underwood: “It was amazing. They came to me and asked me to sing with her, and I said OK. Then they said they wanted to have a dance break in the show. Me & Carrie dance! It’s a fun moment in the show.”
Jimmie appears in the new Dolly Parton TV special: “She’s the best. What a legend. If the only song she ever wrote was I Will Always Love You, that would be enough. We got a chance to talk on Thanksgiving. We stay in contact. It trips me out sometimes when I think about it.”
Jimmie took part in a charity pickleball tournament with Dierks Bentley: “It’s a chance to show myself in a different light. This way they get to know me. I’m crazy competitive. I was so mad we lost. I’m a sore loser! I don’t like to lose.”
Jimmie revealed the reason why he had to cancel his appearance at the CMA Awards: “I was between home and the hospital. I was diagnosed with exhaustion. I couldn’t do anything. I could barely walk. Typically around this time, my body shuts down. That’s what happened that day.”
Just last week, Jimmie performed on the American Music Awards with Smokey Robinson, Lionel Rickie, and Stevie Wonder. “It was crazy getting to sing with those guys. It was just like a dream. I was right next to Stevie Wonder. That’s where music comes from.”
Jimmie also has great stories this week about Carly Pearce, Lainey Wilson, Kane Brown, Dylan Scott, and the Zac Brown Band.
NEXT WEEK: Dolly Parton (This is Dolly’s first appearance as co-host)
