Luke Bryan Co-Hosts 4/13-14

The co-host this weekend is Luke Bryan, who has just released a new single called “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.” He’s in his 7th year as a judge on American Idol. An Idol alum actually has this week’s #1 song. He talks about his 2024 tour, and his current duet with Jon Pardi.

Luke is in the middle of his 7th year as a judge on American Idol: ”Crazy. It’s flown by.  We have a lot of fun, and understand the role, and we’re there to help some kids, and discover some stars.”

Katy Perry has announced this will be her last season.  Lon asked about Luke: ”It’s an annual renewal, so we’re always negotiating. As long as the show is reinventing itself, it’ll be something I want to do.  The relationship with Katy has been amazing. I don’t know who will be her replacement. I think she’s launching a world tour.  So she had to do it in advance. But we haven’t made a decision yet.”

Luke is about to begin his 2024 Mind of a Country Boy Tour: ”We’re starting in Canada, and the reason why is we don’t go there all the time.  Then in June we begin the US leg, and we’ll bring a lot of new artists as openers.  Letting them play in front of my audiences is pretty special stuff.”

Luke just released a new song called ”Love You, Miss You, Mean It”  He explained, “We recorded it and everyone said it sounded like vintage Luke stuff.  The story is identifiable.  Caroline & I did this in college, we broke up and got back together.  So the song felt right, it felt like a big hit song.”

This week’s #1 is someone Luke knows well: Chayce Beckham.  He won Idol in 2021: “We watched him grow from a kid working on a forklift in a rental company. I’ve gotten to know him as a person.  He’s come out to my lake and gone fishing. He wrote this song by himself. For him to be celebrating his first #1, I’m really proud of him.”
