Hardy Co-Hosts 9/12-13
The co-host this wknd is Hardy, who is in our Top 20 now with “McArthur.” Hardy also is a writer on the current Top 30 songs by Blake Shelton and Jelly Roll. He was a writer on Ella Langley’s #1 “Be Her.” He & his wife just returned from a vacation in Japan. Plus he’s about to make his movie debut. It’s Hardy’s birthday weekend! He turns 36 on Sunday.
Hardy & his wife recently returned from a vacation in Japan: “We were there for ten days. It’s cool to see how other folks live. That is a whole nother level over there. It’s neat to see how they treat people, the way they respect cleanliness and order. Bowing is a big thing. We are very adventurous eaters. If you name it, I ate it. I ate literally everything.”
Hardy explained the evolution of his current song McArthur: “I was in a writing session, and one of the writers said, ‘What if we did John’s verse, and then jumped to his son, and we make it about how this family has passed down this farm through generations.’ Everything just fell together. I got bold and sent it to Eric. He immediately texted me and said he was in. Same with Morgan. The three of us sent it to Tim, and the rest is history. We kind of got lucky.”
Hardy will be part of Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa next year: “That’s right in the middle of prime deer hunting season in Mississippi. When Luke asked me to do it, I told him. ‘You know how important this is for me to leave the woods to do this.’ But I’m excited to do it.”
Lon asked about new music “I have been in the studio, I’ve been writing. I’ve written 6 or 8 of the best songs I’ve ever written. They’re all on this record. I’m very excited about it. I have a concept, and it’s similar to something I’ve done in the past that was very popular. New music is coming, a lot of it, and a lot of good stuff. It’s very close. Closer than you might think.”
Hardy says he’s been working with Kane Brown: “I’ve been writing some stuff with Kane. Without giving too much away, Kane & I have something going on together that might come out at some point. That’s as vague as I can be. We’ve spent time in the studio together. We’ve written some songs. We’re cookin’ on something. I have no idea when or where.”
Lon asked Hardy about the jacket he wore for the CBS New Year’s Eve show: “I still have it. That wasn’t a rental. I bought that thing. It’s an authentic coyote skin jacket from Alabama. I love it. It was like my dream jacket. I asked my stylist if she could find one. It’s on my bus right now. It sheds fur all over the place.”
Hardy also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Tucker Wetmore, Kenny Chesney, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, and Tim McGraw.
