Jordan Davis Co-Hosts 5/23-24

The co-host this wknd is Jordan Davis, who is in our Top 10 with “Turn This Truck Around.” He also just had a #1 with Thomas Rhett on “Ain’t a Bad Life.” Jordan updates us on his life with four kids under the age of 6. Plus he tells us what it’s like to sing a song with Peyton Manning.

Jordan told Lon he doesn’t say “dawgs won” when he sings the Thomas Rhett duet: “I told him, when we started singing it, this one’s gonna be tough to sing in my set. I’m gonna have to make a lyric change.  I sent him a congrats message when it made it to the top.  I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Jordan also talked about Brave, Thomas Rhett’s son: “That’s the coolest name you can give to a boy.  I figured since Thomas is a Geogia boy, he named him for the Atlanta Braves.“

Last fall Jordan played Red Rocks in Colorado, and had a special guest: Peyton Manning, who joined him to sing Wagon Wheel: “What Peyton lacks in vocal talent, he makes up in the fact that he’s committed to it. He’s such a fan of country music that he doesn’t care what it sounds like.  He’s all in on it.”

Jordan then told us that his dad was a fan of Peyton’s dad Archie Manning, who was QB for the Saints.  “Peyton asked me to play his fundraiser, and told me to bring my dad.  He had them sit next to each other, so they could talk.  They’re from the same area, found out they had mutual friends.  My dad rode back to Nashville with us that night, and he was on cloud 9.  That was all set up by Peyton, that was pretty special. I’m forever grateful to him for that.”

Jordan says his oldest daughter Eloise is a big fan of Luke Combs.  “When we got to open for Luke last year, it was cool for her to see dad go on before Luke.”  Lon told Jordan about Luke’s chart milestone, first solo artist to have back to back #1s: “Well deserved, this record from Luke is his best record.  I think it will go down as one of the greats.”

Jordan opened the year on tour in Australia.  He got to enjoy a few of his hobbies down under: “When we got to Australia, it was duck season. I love duck hunting, so we were able to do that in Victoria.  I got to fish in New Zealand. I was able to catch a bunch of fish, put em in ice chest, and brought em to the venue, and catering cooked em up for us that night.”
