Chris Janson Co-Hosts 8/2-3
The co-host this wknd is Chris Janson, who just released a new album called “Wild Horses.” It’s his first project on his own label. He co-wrote & co-produced all 15 songs. Lon & Chris will also speak with the artist who has the #1 song in the USA.
Chris made some big changes for this album: “It’s my own label, Harpeth 60, which I partnered back with my original home Warner Nashville. We recorded most of it in my cabin on the Harpeth River. I have a civil war cabin on the river. We wrote there and recorded there as well. All of the songs were written and recorded the same day. The vibe was so much better.”
The first single is Me & A Beer: “I wanted something that fell between Fix A Drink and Good Vibes, I wanted that sound. I played that song for the fans before it was a single, and it was an immediate sing along song. They just connected with it. So I thought, ‘this sounds like the radio, let’s do this,’ and it’s working.”
Recently Chris’s son Jessie had a fishing accident, and the picture went viral: “He caught a saltwater catfish, It has a barb on the back of it. As he went to grab the fish, the barb went through his hand. It went in and out three times. I was able to cut the barb, take it out safely, then got him to a doctor.”
SPOILER ALERT: Josh Ross got his first #1 with “Single Again.” Lon & Chris called him to congratulate him. Lon asked where he was when he got the news: “I was on the bus, got woken up to a zoom with 75 people on it. Very cool. We were in Nebraska at a state fair, so we got to play it that night, just something you’ll never forget. We had a little party last night. It took a long time but that makes it more special. Watching it grow for the last year or more on the road and see where it’s at now is really cool.”
