Cole Swindell Co-Hosts 7/5-6
The co-host this wknd is Cole Swindell, who just released his 5th album, Spanish Moss. The album includes his latest #1: Forever To Me. Cole & his wife Courtney are expecting their first child, a girl, due in August.
Cole summed it up this way: “It’s been a great year, waiting to be parents, it’s just exciting, nerve-wracking, amazing. August 5th is the due date. I don’t know if you’re ever ready. We’ve got a lot of advice. From what I’ve heard is you don’t get a lot of sleep, and I guess I’ll learn as we go.”
Lon asked how Cole spent his first wedding anniversary: “Believe it or not, we had a 4-show run during our anniversary weekend, We did dinner a couple days before our anniversary. It was nice to celebrate. Hard to believe it’s been a year.”
Are you living in North Carolina now? “I’d say it’s been 50-50. We go back and forth. I love it there, and Courtney’s family is there. We’re gonna need help with the baby. Her family is great, so we’re going to deliver there, and we’ll be there a lot.”
Lon noticed that Cole has several things happening at the same time, with the release of a new album, a baby, and a tour starting in September: “It was one of those things. We didn’t really plan that. Fortunately we have some time blocked off before and after the baby. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Forever To Me was the perfect wedding song. So did you sing it at your wedding? “Aw man, that would be so much cooler if I had. We just played the record and danced to it.”
As we came up to Ella Langley’s song, Cole had this memory: “The first time I met Ella, we were playing the Auburn Rodeo. We were riding through campsites, and there was this girl singing Wagon Wheel. I got out of the cart and sang with her. It’s crazy to see where she is now.”
