LoCash Co-Hosts 3/29-30
The co-hosts this wknd are Chris & Preston of LoCash, who’re in our Top 5 with “Hometown Home.” The guys share the amazing story behind the title song from their new album. They also talk about their connections with the Beach Boys and Stevie Wonder. Plus the story behind the couple in the Hometown Home video.
The duo will release a new album called “Bet The Farm” on April 18. They tell how a last-minute song led to the album’s title. “We’re going to tell you the whole story. The album’s done. I’m home watching TV with my wife. I get a song from a buddy of mine. I listen to it, and I love it. I think it’s gonna be the title track to our album. I played it for Chris, and he says, ‘It’s the title track to our album.’ It’s called Bet The Farm. That’s where we are in our life right now. That’s what this is for us. We took all the chips and pushed them in the pot.” They finished recording the song after they left our studio, and the album is out on April 18.
Also on that album is a song called “Isn’t She Country.” It’s based on a song written by Stevie Wonder: “We had to go to him. He’s hard to find. He gave his blessing. He loved the song, and said he wants to be a part of country music somehow. We sang it on Good Morning America, and had to get his permission again. We wanted to make sure he was OK. When he said he loved it, we were flipping out. Having the blessing from Stevie Wonder is pretty awesome.”
There’s another song on the album that they originally pitched to Keith Urban: “We sent this song, ‘When I’m Older’ to Keith Urban, and he responded with an emoji of cheese. I thought that meant he thought it was cheesy. Then he sends another text with a mouse emoji, and he says ‘The mouse wants the cheese.’ So we sent it to him, and he had it for about two years. It didn’t fit for him, and it came back to us, and is now on this new album.”
The video for Hometown Home features a couple, and that same couple is in the video for When I’m Older and Buzzin.’ Preston explained: “It’s a trilogy. Their names are Maggie & Jeron, they’re big online, they’re married and are expecting a baby. They did all three videos in one day. I’m so glad you noticed that. No one else has noticed it.”
LoCash has done some shows with Mike Love of the Beach Boys. They explain: “We wrote a song called ‘Beach Boys.’ It used the melody of one of their songs. So we needed to get their permission. One day, I got a call from an unfamiliar number, and it was Mike Love. We hit it off on the phone. He approved the song and wanted to meet us. So we took the bus to see them in Alabama, and recorded our song Beach Boys WITH The Beach Boys. It was unbelievable.”
LoCash also has great stories this week about Kane Brown, Dierks Bentley, Zach Top, Parmalee, and Tyler Hubbard.
