Keith Urban Co-Hosts 4/5-6

| March 31, 2025

The co-host this wknd is Keith Urban, who is about to kick off his High & Alive World Tour. He’s also doing a new TV series with Blake Shelton called The Road. It will air on CBS next fall. Plus would Keith sing with Blake Shelton? The answer this week.

Keith says he’s been going non-stop since the start of the year: “It feels like we crammed 6 months into 3 months. That’s what it feels like.  New Year’s Eve feels like so long ago.  After that, we did the residency in Las Vegas, and that was kind of like a preview of what we’re going to be doing in the tour.”

Keith told Lon he’s really looking forward to this tour: “I live for it, I live for playing live, especially since we haven’t done a full tour since 2022.  I feel like a race horse at the starting gate, kicking at the stalls trying to get out.  I can see the track, and I can’t wait to get started.”

One big change this year is he will debut a new band: “It feels really good. I’ve always followed my inner voice that says it’s time to make a change in my life, and just take a leap.  We’ve been lucky with this band, because we had the residency in Vegas to do with the new band. But I’m looking forward to getting out with a new band, new songs, new production, new everything.”

The other thing Keith has been doing is shooting a new reality TV show called The Road. “Blake Shelton was one of the idea people behind it. The concept of putting artists in a real club instead of a TV studio was appealing to me. This is a real venue and real audience, and they’re coming to see me play.  These folks are my opening acts, and the people vote at the end of the night.”

They shot the final show Wednesday night at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The show will debut next fall on CBS-TV.

Lon asked if there might be a Blake duet in the future: “We haven’t talked about it, but I would.  I love his voice.  I love Texas.  I love that song. If we could find the right song, I’d jump on it.”

As far as new projects besides the tour, Keith said this: “I just bought a big studio here in town.  I’m bringing it back to life.  It’s an amazing studio. I feel like I bought a shopping mall.  So much history in that building.  It was looking like it might get bulldozed, so we saved it.”

Keith also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Tyler Hubbard, Eric Church, Chase Matthew, and Jelly Roll.

NEXT WEEK: Jason Aldean hosts John Morgan (Lon is off)
