Russell Dickerson Co-Hosts 10/28-29

The co-host this wknd is Russell Dickerson, who just welcomed his second son, Radford, to the family. He tells Lon he was on stage when his wife felt the baby coming. He was able to make it back home in time for the birth. He will be returning to the road for his Big Wheels & Backroads Tour this week. He also looks ahead to his plans for 2024.

Russell & wife Kailey just became parents of their second son, Radford, on October 1st.  Russell says he was doing a show when his wife felt the baby coming: “We were in Kansas City and she called my tour manager during the show.  He told me as I walked off the stage before the encore.  I knew for the last two songs.  After that, we hopped on the bus for the ride back home.”

Lon asked how they’re all doing now: “We are alive, we’re sleep deprived.  Kailey is crushing it as a mom. She’s an absolute super-hero.  Radford doesn’t even cry. He just grunts.  He just sleeps, eats, and goes #2 all the time.”  

Radford joins 3 year old Remington: “He is obsessed.  He wakes up, comes in the room, and says, ‘Good morning best friend.’ It’s absolute heart explosion.”

Lon asked about the name Radford: “My wife loves the abbreviation ‘Rad.’ We were messing around with the name Conrad, but it seemed too intense. There was Radner. Then she said Radford.  It seemed so perfect for us in our lives.”

Halloween is coming up, so is Remington ready? “He’s starting to get the idea of dressing up in costumes.  Kailey wants to do Daniel Tiger, because he’s obsessed with it.  He’d be Daniel Tiger, Radford would be the tigee toy.  But what does the dad wear?  So I think I’ll go as John Wick.”
