Dustin Lynch Co-Hosts 11/4-5

The co-host this week is Dustin Lynch, who is in the Top 5 with “Stars Like Confetti.” He just released a new album called “Killed The Cowboy.” He will hit the road next year with Blake Shelton. He’s starting 2024 in Mexico with Luke Bryan. Lots of great stories this week with Dustin Lynch.

Stars Like Confetti was written by Thomas Rhett.  When Thomas was Lon’s co-host, he said, “I pray that Stars Like Confetti stays at #1 for 9 weeks, so I can set up a college fund.” Lon played that cut for Dustin, and he said, “We’ve got to help the poor dude out! He has four girls at home, four college tuitions, four weddings.  I will gladly be uncle the rest of my life.”

Dustin just released a new album called “Killed The Cowboy,” and it includes a song with Jelly Roll. “He’s just one big ball of joy and wisdom. He’s a warm soul and big light.  I’m honored to have a song with him. My producer used to work with Jelly. We happened to be in the kitchen at the same time and it worked out.”

Dustin began 2023 on the road with Kane Brown.  He told Lon things were pretty competitive: “We played a lot of golf, but we also played a lot of beer pong backstage. We were playing for money.  That was a fun part of that tour for me.”

Dustin also began 2023 with his pilot’s license: “I love it, so much freedom, I wish I had more time to do it.  We played a show with Kane in Knoxville, and I flew to that show, and got home before midnight. I love to be outside, I can get to places so much quicker. Time is very valuable to me.

Dustin will begin 2024 in Mexico with Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa: “Did you hear that?  That was my liver & kidneys saying ‘Oh no!  As the mayor, I’m expected to be there with my pool party.  We start planning in July.  We started something new: a parade like Mardi Gras.”

After that, Dustin begins a four month tour with Blake Shelton: “Out of nowhere, Blake calls me up and invites me on tour. After getting that news, I played a festival with Blake. That night, I told my band we were going out with him next year.”

A few years ago, Lon ran into Dustin in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.  Will he be there again? “Very likely.  I have to scratch that itch a couple times every year.  This year, I’ll be there three times before the end of the year.  I’m going to rodeo this year.  It’s become a tradition every year.  I love the energy.  When you throw a bunch of cowboys in the mix, it’s a fun time.”
