Jon Pardi Co-Hosts 8/19-20
The co-host this wknd is Jon Pardi, who’s in our Top 5 with “Your Heart Or Mine.” “I liked that it had a sexy swagger to it. It had a cool factor to it. It sticks out on the radio.”
Jon & his wife Summer are parents of 6 month old daughter Presley. Lon asked how they picked the name: “We were talking about names, and Presley Pardi sounded really good. I’m a big Elvis fan. I think it’s a cool name.
Jon told Lon that Presley has been a good baby: “She’s a big time sleeper. We got lucky there. She laughs, she’s a real good baby, she’s lot of fun, paying attention, rolling over, but she definitely likes her sleep. Summer & Presley have been staying home, but we’re going to find a trip to take them on the road.”
in May, Jon was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry: “We were at Stagecoach. doing my thing, Guy Fieri showed up, he introduced a special video of Alan Jackson inviting me to the Opry. It was a big moment. I’ve always looked up to Alan, we went on tour together, and there’s always been respect and friendship. It was awesome all around.” The actual induction will take place in October.
Lon asked if his life has changed since having a baby: “I change the diapers, I feed her, help Summer any way I can. Like NASCAR, we got some big pit stops.”
Jon co-wrote Cole Swindell’s current hit “Rockaby.” He told Lon: “I had that title for a long time. The song was too rocking for my album. Then Cole got a hold of it. It’s been cool. He loves it. Cole is a buddy. Cole put us on a group thread, and told us it was going to be his next single. We were pretty pumped up.”
Jon says his next single will be a duet with Luke Bryan: “It’s called ‘Cowboys & Plowboys.’ We finally got it locked in, and you’re gonna hear it pretty soon. It will be on my next album, coming out next year. We have this duet coming out and then a Christmas album coming out.”
Speaking of the Christmas album: “It’s done. We recorded it in February. We recorded it at my shop in my house. I’m really proud of it. It’s mostly new songs. We have four originals, lots of genre crossing, it will be different for people. I did two classics: ‘Let It Snow’ and ‘Winter Wonderland.'”
Jon also has great stories this week about Kane Brown, Mitchell Tenpenny, Russell Dickerson, Justin Moore, and Lainey Wilson.
