Ingrid Andress Co-Hosts 10/8-9
This week’s co-host is Ingrid Andress, who’s in the Top 5 this week with “Wishful Drinking,” a duet with Sam Hunt. She’s also on the road now with Keith Urban: “I’m learning so much, Keith is such a great example for what it’s like to be a legendary artist, because he’s been doing this for a long time.”
Ingrid told Lon that she got the invite to be on the tour from Keith himself: “He facetimed me and asked if I wanted to go on tour. I think I was getting ready in the morning, and saw this number on my phone. So I answered and there was his face, and I was like, ‘Let me put some makeup on. OMG can I do this over again?”
Lon asked if she’s seen his family on the road: “Yes, he’s had his kids out, I met them and Nicole Kidman. We startled each other. I walked out of my dressing room, and she was standing right there. I fan-girled her. I’ve been a huge fan of hers since I was a little girl.”
Ingrid just recorded a song with Zac Brown: “We actually have matching vintage Rage Against The Machine shirts. I wore mine to a fan event, and we passed in the hall, and he said, ‘Hey I have that same shirt!’ A couple days later I get a text and it’s him wearing the shirt.”
Ingrid recently became friends with Kelsea Ballerini: “We were performing on the same show, and afterwards I asked if she wanted to go to a karaoke bar. So we did, and we closed the place down. They had to kick us out! I think we’d had a couple beverages, and wanted to have some fun. My go-to karaoke song is Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’ It’s one of the hardest songs to sing.”
Towards the end of the show, Lon observed that Ingrid is different in person from her songs: “I think people assume I’m this walking raincloud after they hear my songs. Then they meet me, and I’m very different.”
Ingrid also has great stories this week about Thomas Rhett, Jordan Davis, Sam Hunt, Tim McGraw, and Cole Swindell.
