Jon Pardi Co-Hosts 8/20-21
This week’s co-host is Jon Pardi. His current Top 5 is Last Night Lonely. It’s the first single from Jon’s new album, “Mr. Saturday Night,” available September 2nd.
Jon shot the video for Last Night Lonely in Las Vegas. But there are no women in the video! “We just wanted the loneliness thing where he’s looking for the girl. He’s got the lights in Vegas and the cool car, but he was on a mission. He saved all the money on the hotel, and spent it all on his outfit.”
Jon has been on the road all year with Lainey Wilson. “She’s a lot of fun, she’s a sweetheart, and now she’s going to be in Yellowstone. I thought my schedule was crazy, but she’s on the road with me, and then she’s flying to Montana and doing her character. It’s a lot, but she’s loving it.”
Jon’s new album features a cover that evokes the 70s: We had this house called The Time Capsule, and it’s like literally going back to 1960. There was a living room with a bar. It had the shag carpet, burnt orange, it had all the stuff. It’s actually the first record where I’m smiling on the cover. This is the first one. I always asked why can’t I smile? I’d complained about it many times. But we finally got it! Mr. Saturday Night.”
Jon broke a little news with Lon this week: “I’m gonna drop a little hint that the Mr. Saturday Night Deluxe version coming out next year will have Luke Bryan on it. I’m pretty excited about it. It’s a very country song. When we recorded it, he said to me, ‘You might make the traditional people like me now, because it’s country.’ It’s one of my favorites, and it was meant for me & Luke to sing. It’s not about a girl, but it’s about hard work. I think it’s gonna be a big song.”
Jon also has great stories this week about Kane Brown, Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, Midland, Jake Owen, and Brooks & Dunn.
