Blake’s Most Personal Video

| October 28, 2011

Blake Shelton’s current hit, “God Gave Me You,” was a very special song for both Blake and Miranda Lambert.  Blake first heard the song at a turning point in their relationship.  So when it came time to shoot a video for it, Blake knew it had to be personal.

Blake explained the video to Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “The wedding was so publicized, she’s been very guarded about the few things she thinks are sacred, like photos or a video like that.  But she sent me an email one day of the wedding video, and I looked at it, and the opening of it was Miranda saying what she says to me.  And I thought I don’t know how anybody could put it more perfectly than that.  The only problem is how can I talk her into letting me use it.  But she’s the reason I recorded that song, and that’s what I told her.  I said, ‘You summed it up, you summed up when I cut this song to begin with.’  I wouldn’t have wanted to do a video if I could use that footage.  What she says there matters that much to the recording of this song.  I remember when I played her the song, and she was speechless, we both knew how important that song was to us, and it’s probably the most important song I ever cut.”
