Riley Green Co-Hosts 6/7-8

| June 2, 2025

This week’s co-host is Riley Green, who’s in our Top 5 with Worst Way. He just won 3 ACM Awards with Ella Langley for You Look Like You Love Me.

When Riley came into the studio, Lon almost didn’t recognize him because he didn’t have a mustache. “I hurt a lot of people’s feelings when I’ve shaved my mustache off. What’s nice is I can walk around and nobody notices me.  Every guy goes through this, I ended up with a mustache, and it became a thing. I just wanted to get some sun, so I shaved it off.  I guess I have to grow it back.”

Lon noted that Riley may have a higher profile lately.  Lon saw an article about Riley selling his Nashville house: “It’s not my favorite part of the industry. I miss being a regular guy. But it’s a small price to pay for the opportunities I’ve gotten.  I’m buying another place further out of town, and the neighbors are further away.  I’m getting more land.”

Riley told Lon he had just come from a video shoot with Dierks Bentley and John Anderson: “Dierks called me about this song, Broken Branches, the title song on his album, and we did a fun music video.  Just hearing the stories John tells for the time we were together, it’s why I love country music. It’s awesome he loves music so much.  We talked about fishing and turkey hunting.”

Riley is on the road now with Ella Langley, and they perform their hit duet You Look Like You Love Me: “I think fans want to see something that’s real.  Ella grew up near where I did.  We have similar influences.  We actually have two duets and we do both of them. Fans want to see that again, where you have two people who are so close and have that kind of chemistry.”

Riley is playing fairs and festivals in the summer.  During the day, he said he likes to check out local yard sales and flea markets: “I started bringing a jeep with me, so we can go to garage sales.  I look for old fishing tackle, wooden lures, I collect stuff like that. I look for old guitars and old tools.  If it’s interesting, I’ll pick it up.”

Riley also has great stories this week about Luke Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Dylan Marlowe, Josh Ross, John Morgan, and Eric Church.
