Jason Aldean Co-Hosts 5/17-18

The co-host this wknd is Jason Aldean, who’s in the Top 5 with “Whiskey Drink.” He just had a #1 with his friend John Morgan on “Friends Like That.” He’s also about to kick off his Full Throttle Tour next week. Plus he was at Crash My Playa earlier this year with Luke Bryan.

Jason actually filled in for Lon back in March, and they joked about it as the show began. Jason said:  “I’m trying to get your job if this music thing doesn’t work out. It’s fun, it was my pleasure to fill in and help out. But I’m glad my music career’s doing well because that’s really what I want to be doing.”

In just two weeks, Jason will bring his Full Throttle Tour to Fenway Park in Boston: “The Fenway shows have been this special event we do. It was one of the first parks we did. We have this special connection with Boston, so when we play Fenway, it’s just a special night.”

Jason began 2025 at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa in Mexico: “Luke kept it together this year, more than most.  That festival is so loose and so fun.  It’s a chance to play a show where people are having fun.  I’ve done it three times.  It’s a great time to go to Mexico, get some sunshine, so it’s fun.”

Jason has been teasing some new music, so Lon asked about it. “We’re at the end of the process. It’s being mixed now.  There will be a couple duets that I know of. Maybe a third. The partner half of it hasn’t been worked out yet. We haven’t locked that in yet. We’ve got a couple people in mind for it.”

It’s been two years since Jason’s hit “Try That In a Small Town.” Lon asked Jason his thoughts looking back: “Wouldn’t change a thing. That was a song I felt strongly about. It was something I wanted to say. It was one of the most important songs I put out.  I hated the controversy. But I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

As far as his family: “We just celebrated our 10th anniversary. My oldest daughter graduated college.  Kendle is a junior in high school. Memphis is in first grade, Navy’s in kindergarten, they’re all playing sports, so we run to ball games all the time, but it’s awesome.”
