Justin Moore Co-Hosts 10/12-13

| October 7, 2024

The co-host this wknd is Justin Moore, who’s in our Top 10 with “This Is My Dirt.” It’s from a new album that’s out October 11. The album includes duets with Dierks Bentley, Randy Houser, and Blake Shelton. Justin updates us on his four kids, and looks ahead to his plans for 2025.

Justin told Lon the song is very personal to him: “It’s real life.  My grandfather grew up on the piece of property that I now live on.  For me to have the opportunity to raise our kids on the same piece of property is pretty special, and that’s basically where the song came from.”

The album is Justin’s 8th, but first one made using his own band: “They earned it. Nobody cares more about my music than my band. To do it with them was very special.  I think you feel it in the record.  I will never make another record without my band.”

Justin’s album includes several duets, including one with Blake Shelton: “I sent him a couple songs.  He goes, ‘I’ll do the beer song.’  Shocker.  In my opinion, Blake is one of the greatest vocalists in the last 30-40 years. He literally never hits a bad note.”

Justin & his wife Kate have 4 kids.  His oldest daughter Ella is 14: “She has decoded she wants to play golf.  So I take her to play golf, and she’s terrible.  I’m terrible too.  But it’s cool because it’s something we can do together.”

Justin’s youngest is his 7 year old son South: “He’s the biggest sports fan. He plays football, basketball, and baseball. He just scored his first touchdown.  He caught a ten yard pass and took it 15 yards to score a touchdown.  He came over to me, and I gave him a high five. And he goes, ‘It’s not that big of a deal!”

Back in March, Justin reached his 40th birthday.  Did he celebrate?  “No, no, no, no. No big party. At this point you try not to have parties when you reach this age.”

Justin also has great stories this week about Thomas Rhett, Lainey Wilson, Jon Pardi, Dierks Bentley, and Randy Houser.
