Russell Dickerson Co-Hosts 7/27-28

| July 22, 2024

The co-host this wknd is Russell Dickerson, who has just released a new single called ”Bones.” He’s on the road now with Sam Hunt. Russell updates us on his two young sons Remington & Radford. He has great stories about Tom McGraw, Thomas Rhett, Post Malone, and Shaboozey.

Russell has 2 young sons: 4 year old Remington and 10 month old Radford: ”Remington is ordering yogurt pouches from Alexa.  All of a sudden three boxes show up.  It’s like Home Alone. ‘Remy! You spent $675 on yogurt?'”

More kids? “Easy Lon! Before we get too far down this conversation.  Naw, we’re at least one more, maybe two. Who knows?  Lord willing.”

Regarding the new song Bones: ”I play every song for my wife, and one night, she was out late, and when she came in, she said, ‘I’ve been sitting in the driveway for the last hour listening to Bones.  It’s so good.’  It’s the best compliment.”

Russell did the countdown after a day in the studio working on his next album: ‘We’re in the middle. We’re trying to get music by the end of this year.  Like before Halloween.  We did one song today that meshes two songs together from one of my favorite bands.  I just sang it minutes ago.”

Shaboozey opened shows for Russell earlier this year: ”He opened my tour, he played this song before it was the biggest song in the world. I got nothing but love for my boy Boozey. This is a sound, it isn’t just a great song. It’s a sound.”

Russell spent some time with Post Malone: ”We met at the Super Bowl. Then Post goes, ‘We’re going to Losers!’  Somebody shot a video of me & Post singing Boondocks.  So we hit it off.  Its been awesome to see him open the doors to country music”

Russell is on the Locked Up Tour with Sam Hunt.  Lon asked Russell if he’s ever been locked up? ”I’ve never been locked in a cell.  I have been in the back of a cop car and escorted home. It was teenage high school shenanigans.  They said, ‘We’re not taking you to jail, but we’re gonna take you home.  Let your daddy know what you’ve been up to.’  I had just got my license, and that went away quickly.”

Russell also has great stories this week about Tim McGraw, Sam Hunt, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, and Dan + Shay.

NEXT WEEK: Nate Smith
