Old Dominion Co-Hosts 7/1-2
This week’s co-hosts are the members of Old Dominion, who’re in the Top 10 with their hit “Memory Lane.” They just released an 8 song EP called Memory Lane. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey is back with the band after a hip injury earlier this year. “I am fantastic. I’m getting around pretty good.”
The band won the ACM Group of the Year award for the 6th time at the ACMs. “We celebrated with an afterparty at Applebees. The show was in Texas, the afterparty options were limited. We invited everyone, had a great turnout. Tyler Hubbard, Jelly Roll, Mitchell Tenpenny were there. Had a great time.”
One highlight for Matt was a hug from Keith Urban: “The hug from Keith Urban was amazing. I just wanted to stay right there for a moment. Turns out Keith Urban gives good hugs. I was sitting behind him & Nicole, I came down off the stage, he was standing there with open arms. We embraced, and the world disappeared. It was a genuine nice hug.”
The guys were on the road last year with Kenny Chesney. They surprised him at his show in Evansville: “We came up with a plan, we were off, it’s a short drive, and we completely surprised him. We called the venue in advance, and they let us in the door to surprise him. It was fun to walk on stage and see his face.”
A few weeks ago, the band played two sold out shows at Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado. One of the special guests was former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning: “He came out and sang Pink Houses with us. He wasn’t trying to be front & center with us, but he blended in nice.”
Old Dominion also has great stories this week about Chris Young, Bailey Zimmerman, Carly Pearce, Megan Moroney, Lainey Wilson, and Tyler Hubbard.
