Thomas Rhett Co-Hosts 5/10-11

| May 5, 2025

The co-host this week is Thomas Rhett, who’s in the Top 30 with “After All The Bars Are Closed.” He is about to kick off his Better In Boots tour, and will be joined by Tucker Wetmore. Plus he has stories about a lot of his friends in the countdown.

Thomas told Lon that song raised its hand as a single pretty quickly:  “That song has been a fan favorite, one of the few songs off this album we immediately threw into the live show, and knew we had something special.  When you listen, it’s sparse and easy to remember.  I think it’s gonna be a big song for us, and one that’ll be fun to play on tour this year.”

When the tour begins, it will be Rhett’s first tour in two years. Lon asked if there are concerns about forgetting lyrics:  “Three years ago, I invested in a teleprompter, and it’s saved my life.  Knowing it’s there helps my brain to relax. We sometimes get into this thing where we take requests, and they pick obscure songs. So I’m grateful I have the teleprompter on those shows.”

Joining Thomas this year will be Tucker Wetmore: “When we were looking to go on tour this year, I was wondering which one of the new artists I’m vibing with. The more I’ve gotten to know Tucker, I’m just excited to have new blood out there.  Very excited to have Tucker out there.”

With Eric Church in the Top 30, it gave Thomas a chance to talk about one of his favorites: “When I was 16 and 17 years old, all I listened to was Eric Church. I fell in love with the way he wrote songs.  I’ve seen him in concert so many times.  He makes me feel so nostalgic. Any time we hear his voice, it takes me back.”

Cole Swindell is #1 this week with a song about meeting his wife.  Thomas knows both of them and said this: “I’ve known Cole a long time, and I’ve always asked him, ‘When are we gonna tie the knot,’ and he’d say, ‘I’ve gotta find the right girl first.” He found it in Courtney.  I met her and told Cole, ‘This needs to happen.’  It’s so fun watch your friends diving into areas of life your know they’ve wanted to forever.  Now you finally get to watch it.”

Thomas also has great stories this week about Bailey Zimmerman, Riley Green, Ella Langley, Jelly Roll, Russell Dickerson, and Jason Aldean.

NEXT WEEK: Jason Aldean
