Megan Moroney Co-Hosts 5/31-6/1
The co-host this wknd is Megan Moroney, who’s in our Top 5 with “Am I Okay.” This is Megan’s first time as Lon’s co-host. She also just released a new duet with Kenny Chesney that was based on their tour together.
Last month, Megan sold out two headline shows at Nashville’s new venue, The Pinnacle: “I was the first artist to sell out two nights. I wrote most of these songs here. My fans resonate with my songs. It’s group therapy, there’s a lot of healing going on.”
She had a special guest on the second night: Keith Urban. “I got word he was bringing his daughter. My favorite part was my mom freaked out. She was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Keith Urban.’ I told her, ‘Mom, you’re gonna get your all access pass taken away.’ He smells real good too.”
She told Lon she had one regret: “I wish I would have told him that blue is my color. I love that song. When I introduced the color blue with this new album, people were like, ‘Keith Urban lied. Blue IS your color.’ Then I forgot to tell him.”
A couple weeks ago, Megan released a new duet with Kenny Chesney: “I wrote this song in December. I knew I wanted to write about the tour last year with Kenny. It was so much fun. I knew I had to give him a Christmas present. So we flew to his house in the islands to give the song to him. He freaked out. He ended up loving it, and now it exists.”
When Megan saw Thomas Rhett in the chart, she told this story: “I bought pit tickets for him in college. I went through a phase in college. I was obsessed with him and Lauren. Then I got to meet him. He was so cool, he gave me relationship advise. He said, ‘God’s got someone out there for me.’ It was very wholesome.”
Lon asked about her friendship with Ed Sheeren: “He doesn’t have a phone. He says that’s how he stays sane. But I have his personal email. He responds quickly. I would love to do a song with him. I’m putting that on my bucket list, because he’s so good.”
Megan also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Kasey Musgraves, Keith Urban, and Miranda Lambert.
