Dan + Shay Co-Host 1/11-12

This wknd Dan + Shay return to co-host the countdown. Their current Top 10 is “Bigger Houses.” Shay is just a couple weeks away from becoming a parent for the 4th time! The guys will be taking a few months off to start the year. They look back at their experience as coaches on The Voice. They also look back at ten years as a duo.

Shay & his wife are expecting their 4th child in about 10 days! “It’s crazy, man. Number 4!  January 20th is the due date.  With four kids, I’m never gonna have time off again. This was a tough pregnancy in the beginning.  It’s become better towards the end. It’s gonna be an adjustment.”

The guys talk about their experiences as coaches on The Voice. Lon asked what was the hardest part: “You really get close with a lot of these people.  Then you have to kick them off.  That’s tough. When you get to know them, and know their story, you get close to them.  That’s why we explain that getting kicked off doesn’t have to be the end of their journey.”

Dan told an interesting story about Megan Moroney: “I’ve been a huge fan of hers since the beginning.  She messaged me to hang with her & her friends at a beach bar in Florida.  I go there, and I get a message from my manager.  The first thing he says was ‘How would you like to be the next coaches on The Voice?’  So she was there when we found out we got to be coaches on The Voice.”

Lon asked if they were able to watch the show after their season was over: “I try to keep up with it, but no, I don’t have time to watch it.” Dan said, “When I do watch, I have a newfound appreciation for all the editing they do, They spent months recording each episode.”

Other than Shay’s new baby, what are the plans for 2025: “We’re gonna be in the studio at some point. Obviously, we’ll do some shows, stay tuned for some announcements.  But we need to live some life, get back into the writing room, and make another album.  That’s what we love to do. We love writing songs, that’s why we moved to Nashville, so we’re gonna do a lot of that in 2025.”
