George Birge Co-Hosts 12/7-8

The co-host this wknd is George Birge, who’s in the Top 5 with “Cowboy Songs.” This is George’s first time to co-host. He talks about his journey from Austin TX to Nashville with help from Toby Keith. He toured this year with Parker McCollum and Sam Hunt, and will hit the road in 2025 with Dylan Scott.

It’s been a whirlwind year for George: “It’s insane.  I’ve been chasing this dream of playing country music as long as I can remember.  For some reason, 2024 had the magic card for me.”

In 2016, George was signed to Toby Keith’s record label: “I’m forever thankful. I got to be on tour with him. Every night after the show, he’d invite us on his bus to play songs.  He was a human jukebox.  He told me how he wrote Should’ve Been a Cowboy.  Toby influenced me in so many ways.”

It was with Toby that George met Post Malone: “This was on Toby’s birthday in Virginia Beach. Me, Post Malone, and Seal Team Six were on Toby’s bus and passed the guitar around for 3 hours.  Post was playing Strait, Hank Williams, and classic country.  Toby was trading songs with him all night.  Post idolized Toby.”

Looking ahead to 2025, what’s next: “I have a new single coming towards the end of January. It’s a brand new song, and it’s a step forward for me as an artist.  It is real to me, and I hope a lot of other people will be able to relate to it.  I also have a big tour in the fall that hasn’t been announced yet that will be the biggest tour of my life.”

With Christmas coming, George is expecting the Elf on the Shelf: “We’ve got an elf named Chilly Willie who comes to visit us every year.  It puts the magic back in your eyes, it’s fun having kiddoes.  I sometimes wonder if I’m ever gonna sleep again, but it’s fun getting to chase it with them.”
