Dan + Shay Co-Host 12/14-15

The co-hosts this wknd are Dan + Shay, who’re in our Top 10 with “Bigger Houses.” They also have their first-ever holiday album: It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album. They talk about that album and play some songs from it. They’re on a media tour now, appearing on a lot of TV shows.

Dan told Lon: “It’s been a crazy stretch. Shout out to NBC for keeping us busy.  We put out this Christmas record, and we’re grateful for the opportunities. We did Fallon, the Today Show, and the tree lighting with Kelly Clarkson. Then flew to LA to be on The Voice. It’s been a good stretch. 

The guys were in LA to appear on The Voice: “It’s The Voice finale, we did It’s Officially Christmas, The Voice family is so amazing, any chance we get a chance to be on there is a big opportunity for us.  It’s always fun.”

The guys released their first holiday album “It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album”: “We made the fans wait a long time. We first put out a Christmas single in 2015.  Now we finally put out an album. We had snow in January, so we inspired and wrote four or five songs.  That was enough to do a Christmas album.”

Shay & his wife Hannah are expecting Baby #4: “Fourth one is on the way.  I think January 20th is our due date.  We haven’t announced what it is yet.  People have been asking if we’re gonna announce it, and we probably won’t.  It’s too late at this point, and they’ll all find out eventually.”

Lon asked Shay if he does the Elf on the Shelf: “We are not an elf on the shelf family.  I have Dan, and he comes over and sits on the shelf in his green suit. I’m thinking we can come up with our own dolls.  I’ll think of something that rhymes.  We could get our own little dolls.  Two of them.  Dan & Shay On The Bay.”
