Parmalee Co-Hosts 11/23-24

The co-host this weekend will be the band Parmalee. They’re in our Top 5 this week with “Gonna Love You.” They recently performed at the Concert For Carolina, and tell stories about that show. They toured this past year with Kane Brown & Tyler Hubbard. They also talk about their plans for 2025.

Lon asked about the dramatic video, based around the shooting of the band’s drummer, Scott Thomas, back in 2010.  Scott said, “I might have been the one who brought it up.  I thought, this is a beautiful love song.  But we didn’t want to do another typical video.  There’s a happy ending to the story, because we got the record deal after the shooting.”

The band just took part in the Concert For Carolina, where they performed for 82,000 fans, and helped raise $25 million. Matt said, “I just knew, when I saw how bad it was, I said, man we had to be part of it. I texted Luke Combs and Chase Rice, ‘whatever you guys are doing, we wanna be there.’  So they included us.”

The guys spent most of the year on the road with Kane Brown. They were all impressed with Kane’s video game setup: “Kane’s setup was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.  Big glass desk, you can see his computer through the glass, big monitors so you can see all the people in the chat. It’s another world.”

Also on that tour was Tyler Hubbard, who got Matt to try something new: “He talked me into going to hot yoga with him. Right after that we got into a cold plunge, which I’d never done. I thought my heart was failing when I got into the cold tub. Felt good afterwards, once my body thawed out.”

They just announced a headline tour for 2025. “We got a headline tour in February.  The Fell In Love With a Cowgirl tour.  There will be a new single, new album, all being packaged right now.  All happening in February.”

The guys told Lon a story we hadn’t heard about Tucker Wetmore: “Tucker came out and sold merch for us one weekend.  At the time, he was writing songs.  He was friends with one of our crew guys.  This was 2 years ago. Now he has a hit on the radio.  You never know!”
