Blake Doesn’t Watch The Voice

| November 9, 2024

Blake Shelton spent 12 years and 23 seasons as a coach on The Voice. He left the show in May of 2023, and he told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton he hasn’t watched the show much since he left. “I saw Reba on the show a couple of times, but I didn’t watch a lot of it. I just watched a little because Gwen was on that season. I missed the ones with Dan & Shay, but I’ve heard good things about it. If I watch these days, it’s because Gwen is on. I sat through 23 seasons without missing a moment. So if I miss a few episodes, you can’t blame me.”

Lon asked what he’s been doing since leaving the show? “I haven’t been doing that much, which was kind of the point. Doing that show kind of took over my life. The whole idea was to get some life in before it’s too late. We have three kids, so I try to spend time with them as I can. I’ve had a year and a half, and it still doesn’t feel that long. But as far as releasing music, it HAS been a while. So I’m glad to be sticking my neck out again.”

Blake just had a #1 with Post Malone on “Pour Me a Drink.” He says Post invited him earlier this year. “I ran into him at the Super Bowl this year, and he told me he was working on a country album. So we traded phone numbers, and he reached out and asked if I would sing on his record. Of course, Pour Me a Drink became a big hit for both of us. I’m glad he drug me along, because it fired me up to do this again.”

Blake recently signed a new record deal with BMG Records Nashville, and has been working on some solo music. They are expecting something to be released before the end of the year.
