Old Dominion Co-Hosts 9/14-15

| September 9, 2024

The co-host this week is Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi, who has a new solo album, as well as Old Dominion’s new greatest hits album: “ODies But Goodies.” Brad’s solo album is called “Parallel Love.” He will do a solo tour next month. He just got engaged a few weeks ago.

It’s his first time to co-host by himself: “I’m nervous. Everything I’ve done, even to this interview, feels like the first time. I’ve always been in a band.”

On the solo album, Brad says: “It’s probably been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve been in bands my whole life, and I just turned 45.  I had a lot of songs I’ve written that I wanted to get out.  I hope people like this album, hope they make it part of their lives.”

Lots of changes in Brad’s life right now.  In addition to his solo album & tour, he just got engaged: “I thought about it the day before.  I went home, asked her at the house, we had a nice moment, the two of us, then we had a little celebration.  I was ready. I had to make sure no one else got to her.”

Regarding the OD Hits album: “I can’t believe we have enough songs to make that kind of record. We wanted to put everything together. We’re happy & grateful to make an album like this. This will hopefully solidify in people’s minds that we have a lot of songs.”

Brad kicks off his first solo tour next month: “I’m going out in October, starting all over again, playing small rooms, it’s an evening with me, I’ll take them on a journey, some songs I wrote for others, some Old Dominion songs I wrote, and then we’ll do the album.”

What’s next for Old Dominion: “They call this a hybrid off year.  We’re giving people a break from us. We’re taking it easy, then going out for a big tour next year.  We’re going into the studio soon and make more music.”

All the work on the solo project has one casualty: His golf game: “I’m so bad right now, I think I’m gonna stop. I’m gonna stop playing for a while. I went from a 6 handicap to an 11.  I can’t hit the ball.  I’m all messed up.  I have a lesson next week.  I’m gonna keep trying.”

Brad also has great stories this week about Luke Bryan, Chris Young, Nate Smith, Keith Urban, Jelly Roll, and Tyler Hubbard.

NEXT WEEK: Parker McCollum
